Project Overview

Great british summer savings

Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre wanted to take part in the Great British Summer Savings initiative, reducing VAT on admission tickets and selected children’s meals from 25th June to 1st September.

While the offer created a great opportunity to give visitors better value over the summer holidays, making it happen required more than promotional content. Crest Social supported the team with the planning, website updates, ticketing system changes and customer journey needed to get the offer live, accurate and ready to promote.

Our Process

More than social - how we supported this

The Brief

01

  • Support Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre in taking part in the Great British Summer Savings initiative from 25th June to 1st September.

  • Help the team understand what the VAT reduction applied to, including admission tickets and selected children’s meals.

  • Make the offer easy for visitors to understand before booking, with clear information about dates, savings and eligibility.

  • Update the website and booking journey so customers could access the correct discounted tickets without confusion.

  • Prepare the offer for promotion across social media, email and other marketing channels throughout the summer.

the challenge

02

  • The offer involved more than a simple price change, with ticket types, VAT classifications and customer messaging all needing careful attention.

  • Cotebrook’s ticketing system, DigiTickets, needed to be reconfigured correctly to reflect the temporary VAT reduction.

  • Website content had to clearly explain the offer without creating confusion around what was included and what was excluded.

  • Existing website links and ticket pathways needed to be reviewed so visitors were not sent to old or outdated ticket information.

  • Everything had to be tested before promotion began, to make sure the customer journey worked from information page through to booking.

The results

03

  • Cotebrook launched a clear and customer-friendly Great British Summer Savings offer ahead of the key summer holiday period.

  • The DigiTickets back end was updated with the correct prices, tax classifications and ticket settings.

  • A dedicated website page was created with ticket savings, children’s meal details, key dates, terms and FAQs.

  • The wider website journey was reviewed and updated so visitors could find the correct information and booking links.

  • With the technical and website work complete, Cotebrook is now ready to promote the offer confidently across its marketing channels.

Supporting a visitor attraction with more than just social media

When Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre decided to take part in the Great British Summer Savings initiative, they needed more than a few social media posts.

The offer involved reducing VAT on admission tickets and selected children’s meals from 25th June to 1st September, giving families a valuable saving over the summer holidays. But behind what sounds like a simple promotional offer was a much bigger piece of work.

Crest Social supported Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre with the planning, implementation, website updates and customer journey needed to make the offer clear, accurate and easy to access.

The Challenge

The Great British Summer Savings initiative created a fantastic opportunity for Cotebrook to offer better value for visitors during one of the busiest times of the year.

However, the team needed to understand:

  • What the VAT reduction applied to
  • Which tickets and meals were included
  • How to update the ticketing system correctly
  • How to communicate the savings clearly to visitors
  • How to avoid confusion across the website and booking journey
  • How to make sure everything worked before the promotion went live

This was not just a marketing task. It involved the ticketing system, website content, pricing, tax classifications, customer information and ongoing promotion.

The Support Provided

Crest Social helped Cotebrook work through the detail of the offer and turn it into something practical, clear and easy for customers to understand.

This included:

Understanding the offer

The first stage was to work out what the Great British Summer Savings applied to and how Cotebrook could implement it correctly.

This involved reviewing the different ticket types, understanding which admissions were eligible and clarifying how the children’s meal discount would work.

Reconfiguring the ticketing system

Cotebrook’s online ticketing is managed through DigiTickets, so the back end needed to be carefully updated.

This involved amending ticket prices, updating VAT and tax classifications, checking each ticket type and making sure the correct savings were applied across the booking process.

Because this affected live customer bookings, accuracy was essential.

Creating a dedicated website page

To make the offer easy for visitors to understand, we created a dedicated page on the Cotebrook website explaining the Great British Summer Savings.

The page included:

  • A clear explanation of the offer
  • The dates it applied
  • The savings available on each ticket type
  • Details of the children’s meal discount
  • Important terms and exclusions
  • A comprehensive FAQ section
  • Clear links through to the booking system

The aim was to remove confusion and answer the questions visitors were most likely to ask before they booked.

Updating the wider website journey

Once the new offer page and ticketing links were in place, we also reviewed the wider website.

Any areas that linked to older ticket pages or outdated ticket information needed to be updated so visitors were directed to the correct information and booking journey.

This helped create a smoother experience and reduced the risk of customers landing on old or incorrect pages.

Testing before launch

Before the offer was promoted, the booking process was tested to make sure everything worked as expected.

This included checking the website links, ticket prices, customer journey and booking flow to ensure visitors could access the correct discounted tickets without confusion.

The Result

Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre now has a clear, working and customer-friendly Great British Summer Savings offer in place ahead of the key summer holiday period.

The website explains the offer clearly, the ticketing system reflects the correct pricing and VAT treatment, and the customer journey has been checked from information page through to booking.

From conversations with local tourism contacts, it also appears that Cotebrook is ahead of the curve in getting this offer live and ready to promote.

With the technical and website work complete, the focus now moves to promotion across social media, email and other marketing channels over the coming weeks.

Why This Matters

This project is a great example of how Crest Social can support businesses beyond day-to-day social media management.

For small businesses and visitor attractions, marketing often means more than creating content. It can involve making sure the website is up to date, the booking journey works, the messaging is clear and the customer experience is smooth from start to finish.

In this case, the support helped Cotebrook move from “we want to take part in this offer” to having a fully implemented, tested and ready-to-promote campaign.

Need help turning an idea into something that actually works?

Whether it is a seasonal offer, a ticketing update, a new campaign, a website page, or a promotion that needs joining up across different platforms, Crest Social can help you make it happen.

Because good marketing is not just about posting online.

It is about making sure the whole journey works.
