The sunflower field is one of the biggest events in the farm’s calendar, so building anticipation before opening is essential.
For the 2026 launch, we created a campaign combining Reels and static posts, with Rick at the forefront of the content. Rather than simply announcing that the field was opening, Rick introduced what visitors could expect, shared updates as the sunflowers developed and helped bring the experience to life before people arrived.
Between 25 June and 22 July, the campaign generated:
1.1 million social media views
2,500 content interactions
413 new followers
The results were not driven by one format alone. Reels helped the content reach new people, while static posts provided clear, shareable information about the sunflower field and the wider visitor experience.
A major reason the content performed so strongly is that the growth strategy had already attracted a highly relevant audience. We were not starting from scratch or simply chasing large numbers. The farm had built a community of people interested in local days out, farming, food and seasonal experiences.
That meant that when the sunflower campaign launched, the content was being shown to people who were genuinely likely to visit, share it with friends or save the details for later.
The campaign demonstrates the value of building the right audience throughout the year. When a key event arrives, the farm already has an engaged community ready to help spread the word.
